Goodman Theatre

This Chicago theatre has been around for 80+ years and is named after playwright Kenneth Goodman who died of pneumonia. The theatre showcases cultural and historical themes and has also been putting up family themed plays for quite some time. Goodman serves as home to outstanding theatre talent and puts up an array of diverse theatrical fashion and style.

The theatre was designed by Howard Van Doren Shaw, on the direction of Kenneth Goodman's parents, Mr. and Mrs. William O. Goodman, who donated USD$350,000 for the project.

Goodman Theatre was part of the postwar stage renaissance and played an active role in grooming the Chicago theatre scene from the scratch.

For Hamlet performances, in 1999, comedian Del Close as rumor has it, donated his skull to the Goodman Theatre, but later it turned out to be somebody else's.

Amongst the most popular performances showcased by Goodman Theatre so far, "Crowns" and "Proof" are the most outstanding.  Watch elegant ballet, popular musicals and captivating theatrical plays at this Chicago spot. Popular neighbors include Chicago Opera Theatre and Chicago Cultural Center.

When you feel hungry, go over to Catch 35 (312-346-3500), and enjoy some fresh seafood along with creative cocktails and live jazz.  Later, unwind at Govnors Pub- an Irish spot where you can sip beer, wine or martinis in a casual atmosphere.

Close the day at the Hotel Allegro Chicago - a Kimpton Hotel- a stunning boutique hotel with attractive art deco interiors and a state-of-the-art business center. Or stay at the Hotel Monaco Chicago - a Kimpton Hotel located near the Magnificent Mile. Ask for a room with a view of the waterfront.
