crown jewel of American theater. The venue has a history of 120 years

Legendary names such as Jimi Hendrix, Frank Sinatra, Aretha

performances. Presidents Theodore Roosevelt and William McKinley have

The Auditorium Theatre showcases Best of Broadway productions. The popular productions such as Les Miserables and Phantom of the Opera were instant sellouts. And captivating ballet performances by names like Bolshoi Ballet and the Kirov ballet have been unforgettable hits.
Tours of this historic landmark are offered every Monday at 10 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. at a cost of $8 a person. The tour offers an up close look at the famous building designed by Dankmar Adler and Louis Sullivan. Restored to its original 1889 look, this 4,200-seat theater is filled with architectural history.
Some of the theater's famous neighbors include the Harold Washington Library, the Museum of Contemporary Photography, the Spertus Museum and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
At the nearby Custom House (312-523-0200) enjoy thick cut meats al fresco or indoors. Later go over to Hot House to liven up your evening. Listen to live music and melt away into the mixed crowd.
