Ride to the top of the tallest building in Chicago and get a bird's eye view of the city.

Sears Tower building was built in 1973, stands 1454 feet tall and covers an area of 4.56 million sq. ft. The tower boasts 110 floors, 104 elevators of which 16 are double deckers. These elevators take you to the top of the building in 70 seconds.

First, you will get to see a video on the history of Sears, Roebuck and Co. You will learn more about the design and structure of the Sears Tower and other statistics.

If you want to have a fantastic viewing experience, make sure you go on a clear day. Cloudy days will not let you have a good and extensive view. See the glittering silvery Lake Michigan and take in views from as far as 50 miles away.

The Sears Tower Skydeck, draws over a million visitors per annum. You may have to wait in long queues, especially on days when the skies are clear.

If you are looking to eat, Lou Mitchell's (312-939-3111), located nearby offers typical American cuisine.  This place has been there since 1923, and has been popular ever since. Or you may want to go over to the 40th floor of the Chicago Stock Exchange for a lingering French meal at the Everest. This spot has a very elegant and romantic feel.

Stop by at Cactus, where you can have a nice time shooting pool and playing video games. The bartender mixes some very creative drinks that you may wish to try.

At the Congress Plaza Hotel, a 3 star hotel; select guest rooms lend great views of the waterfront. This can be a nice choice for the budget traveler. On the luxurious side, you may want to look up W Chicago City Center, which is situated half a mile away from the Sears Tower and boasts lavish interiors and modern amenities.
