
If you are into arts and architecture, Robie House is sure to amaze you. The house was designed and built between 1908 and 1910 and has been known to inspire an architectural revolution.
Frank Lloyd Wright experimented with forms and materials to come up with a distinct style of American Architecture. He started out in Oak Park and Robie House, is one of his greatest achievements. At Robie House, you will learn about the Prairie style architecture and how Frank Lloyd Wright redefines American residential architecture.
Notice the horizontal lines and balconies that define the structure. The stained glass windows were part of the design to help keep the sun out. The balconies and stretched out roofs were designed to create spaces.
Nearby Chicago attractions include Oriental Institute Museum, Rockefeller Memorial Chapel, University of Chicago, Museum of Science and Industry and Smart Museum of Art, all located within a half mile vicinity.
