Smart Museum of Art - Chicago Hotels .com

This Chicago museum was founded in 1974 with a gift from the Smart Family Foundation. University of Chicago serves as home to the Smart Museum, which boasts the best and most assorted art collection in the country.

The museum's 10,000 piece collection is quite diversified and includes artwork from both the east and west. Museum exhibits include interesting artifacts spanning five millinea. Browse through traditional art from various parts of the world and catch some innovation from eminent works of modern art.

The museum collection includes well celebrated paintings by world famous names like Francisco Goya, Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso; sculpture by Diego Rivera and photography by Ansel Adams.

If you still feel like seeing more of Chicago, go and see Museum of Science and Industry, University of Chicago, Robie House, DuSable Museum of African American History and Oriental Institute Museum all located in close proximity.

The nearby Edwardos Natural Pizza (773-241-7960), offers traditional calzones and gourmet pizza pies that you may want to try. But if you would rather prefer French cuisine try the La Petite Folie (773-493-1394), a romantic bistro located a mile away.

There is also a gastro pub - Woodlawn Tap nearby, that only serves beer and is more like a dive bar where you can intermingle with cross section drinkers. You may also want to check out Checkerboard Lounge. Enjoy some live music at this trendy and touristy spot.

The nicest hotel in the neighborhood is the 4 star Hyatt Regency McCormick Place - a home within a home. Use their free shuttle to see the attractions located within five miles. For something easier on the pocket, try the 2 star Best Western Grant Park located within six miles.
