Field Museum of Natural History

Within this neoclassical building lies an impressive collection of artifacts. The Field Museum of Natural History, located in the Museum Campus at Grant Park, has over 20 million specimens in its collection and boasts the best preserved and most complete Tyrannosaurus rex fossil, affectionately named Sue, in the world.

As both a place for learning and diversion, the Field Museum features many permanent exhibits focusing on the ancient artifacts, rocks and fossils, foreign cultures, wildlife habitats and our ever-changing planet. Many temporary exhibits also take up residency at the museum, even if just for a little while.

Once done going through the museum's halls, make sure to visit the Adler Planetarium and the Shedd Aquarium, which are also located at Museum Campus. Other nearby attractions include Millennium Park and the Art Institute of Chicago.

Opera (312-461-0161) is located a short walk away and serves up a Mandarin style Chinese cuisine. If in the mood for dumplings, stop by the famous Phoenix (312-328-0848). Later, go over to the trendy Tantrum for some creative cocktails.

If you are looking for accommodations in this neighborhood, stay at the 2 star Best Western Grant Park. On the finer side, you may want to check in at the Hilton Chicago- Michigan Ave Cultural Mile.
