Old Town

Old Town is also referred to as Old Town Triangle. The once hippie paradise is a neighborhood of the Near North Side community. It is bordered by Armitage Avenue on the north, Division Street on the south, Clark Street on the east and Larrabee on the west.

Old town is a historic and affluent neighborhood which was earlier settled by German- Catholics. You can still find Victorian style architecture here. See the St. Michael's Church which is a Bavarian-built church. It is one of 7 church survivors of the Great Fire of Chicago. Check out the traces of old culture on Clark Street, shops and eateries on Wells and North Avenue.

On Wells Street going north between Evergreen and Eugenie, you will find the cream of boutiques. Eliana Lily Chicago, Handle with Care, Sara Jane, Trends for Men, Etre and Haberdash can dress you head to toe in the trendiest urban wear. Comedy lovers should look up the legendary Second City on N Wells (312-337-3992). The talented comedy troupe began as Compass Players in 1955 at the University of Chicago. After a nice round of comedy, go down to Old Town Pizza Pub (312-266-6789). This parlor is open till late and draws the sporty kind, yuppies and a rich crowd. Enjoy pizza with chunky toppings and wash down with chilled beer. Those in a mood for baby back ribs won't go wrong at Twin Anchors Inc(312-266-1616). The guacamole at Adobo Grill (312-266-7999) is the freshest in town. See fresh ingredients getting chopped right in front of you.

Right down the road from Zanies Comedy Night Club you will find Piper's Alley (312-337-0436). The building has exposed brick walls and has excellent theater, dining, nightlife and shopping options. You can easily spend your entire day at this exciting place.
